cousins Sammy and Liz giving the maid of honors speech at my cousin Britt’s wedding.
Duration : 0:3:32
I’ve never been a Maid of Honor before so I’m not quite sure what I’m doing. haha, but a girl, recently asked me to be her MOH… We’ve known each other through work/school for only a couple of years, but just recently became pretty good friends. Everything I’ve read about MOH speeches are for a sister, best friend, and/or a life long friend. I think very highly of her and her groom to be and I want my speech to be special and meaningful.
I thought about maybe starting with a poem or quote…. I don’t know my mind is in a million places at once right now. Anything would be helpful ![]()
Alright, well let’s think this out. Before, try to talk to some people who know her most, find out more about her. You can speak about how greatful you are for being chosen of such a great honor, and how you’ve liked knowing her. And I suggest looking on a site like http://www.boardofwisdom.com, they have all KINDS of awesome quotes. You’ll be just fine. Just be calm, and yourself and put enough feeling that people see you cared to put in some effort. Good luck!

Megan’s Maid of Honor Speech at Wes and Allison’s Wedding

I am the grooms sister but the bride asked me to be her maid of honor, I don’t know her very much so, I need ideas of what to say. I am not going to stealing anything you guys say, I just need some inspiration.
Keep it short and sweet. Say something about how happy she makes your brother, you are honored she asked you to be MOH, you are happy she is going to be your sister, maybe share a short a funny story relating to your brother and love. Hope that helps somewhat.
So here’s the situation.
I met my best friend via craigslist. She is engaged now and asked me to be her maid of honor. At her wedding we will have known each other for about a year in a half. She doesn’t want anyone to know how we met. So how do I cover that in the speech? And hints on speech writing.
This is tough!
You can talk about how some things are a twist of fate and how life leads you in unanticipated directions that no one could predict.
Don’t spend too much time talking about how you met. The best speeches talk about the bride and groom and how you wish them happiness and eternal love. I think in the best speech I made I talked about how it was wonderful to see the bride and groom fall in love. Make it simple and directed towards them.

I am really feeling anxious. My best friend is going to get married soon and I have to give a maid of honor wedding speech. But I am feeling blocked. I don’t know what to say. Can someone give me some good examples of how to deliver a really good maid of honor wedding speech?
It is normal to feel anxious about giving the best maid of honor wedding speeches. It is a day that is going to be remembered by your best friend and her groom forever.
But do not worry; I can help you by giving you some practical examples of how to deliver the best maid of honor wedding speeches.
The first tip is to try to be positive about you. If they have picked you, they really think highly of you.
It is very important to keep in mind to check all the details with the bride and also make sure that the bride and groom feel comfortable with what you are going to say. As the bride’s close friend, you might be aware of some things that they do not want to share with everyone they now.
I have attended a wedding of my best friend and I really liked the speech given by the maid of honor.
She started by introducing herself. Then she said a sweet story about the couple. She added some jokes and anecdotes.
Keep in mind that the speech has to contribute positively to the wedding.
Try to make the wedding speech fit your personality. If you are a humorous person, try to add some sense of humor. By so doing, your speech would not sound boring to others and will brighten the mood of the wedding.
Try to practice your speech a few times in front of a mirror as to really feel prepared.
Try also to focus to make your speech relevant to the bride and groom and try to make it memorable for them.

I delivered this gem of a speech for my friends Jessie and Joe. I’ve known both of them for a very long time and thought this would be the kind of speech they’d want from me. And, I rap. Come on, who doesn’t love a rapping Asian?

I am having a hard time writing a speech for my Mom’s wedding. I am her maid of honor and her only daugther. She’s getting married in July. I’m not good at writing speeches. And everything I think of makes me think of my Dad and my mom. I need something to say about her and her new soon to be husband. My Dad died when I was younger so it’s not like my mom and him got divorced. He was the love of her life but now she has a new life. Larry (her fiance) is great and now she’s marrying her best friend. He’s 41 and this is his 1st wedding (& last). Please help me! I don’t know what to say in my speech. I want it to be short!
You can discuss that. Talk about how sad she was after your dad died. What did you notice about her? Did she used to sing in the kitchen? Did she love to dance but hadn’t danced in years?
Talk about the qualities you missed.
Talk about how you knew it was love. Why? What did your mom do to show you how happy she was? Talk about how happy you are that someone will be there to take care of her for the rest of her life.
Talk about her smile, how he treats her, things they do together. Don’t think of it as writing a speech but think of it as talking to a friend.
