We have 10 people in our wedding party (5 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen). Instead of having the best man, maid of honor speech/toasts, we want to have each bridesmaid and groomsmen say a very short something. Can we have them give their toasts DURING our wedding reception dinner while people are eating?
My sister did this, it did not go well. It was very confusing, we didnt know whether to eat or not, most people stopped eating and our dinners got cold. Plus, the speeches were never short, even if they were written that way. One girl rambled for 10 minutes and made absoluetly no sense at all and I saw her written speech afterwards, it was literally 4 sentences long, she just couldnt get it out in 4 sentences, there was alot of laughing and weird glances at my sister, it was awful. And then my dad got up to talk, aye carumba, its was dreadful, the speech went on crazy tangents and everything. I wouldnt suggest having everyone talk, make it just the BM and MOH, it will keep things moving more smoothly if you keep the speeches at a minimum, when everybody talks things tend to get a bit crazy and its your guests who pay for it.
I’ve known her since december and she doesn’t know what i should say help!!!
A speech/ toast does not have to be very long especially since you do not know her very well. Try this one, I hop it helps!
Every person takes a different path in this journey we call life. Sometimes paths cross, friendships are formed and love blossoms. Eventually, two paths become one as it did for (brides name) and (Grooms name). Marriage is the merging of two paths, two minds and souls. With every path, there will be some rocky ways and obstacles, but I know that these two, who are very much in love, can overcome any hurtle that comes their way. I wish you a happy marriage and a path full of enlightenment and joy. To you. (Raise your glass in a toast.)
I am the maid of honor at my best friends wedding and I am writing my speech. So far it is about 3 minutes long with added time for laughs because some of it is funny. I would like to add more because there is so much I can say but I don’t want to take toomuch time.
absolutely no more than 45 minutes.

Can anyone give me ideas to help with my toast at my best friends wedding. Im not good at this kind of stuff.
I’m not good at this sort of thing either, but I can tell you what I did for my best friend when I was her maid of honor – maybe it will spark an idea for you.
I had no idea what to write or where to begin. Then, I remembered a game we used to play when we were kids in theatre camp. One of us would start the conversation and started it with the letter "A." Then the other one would have to respond, but start our sentence with the letter "B," and we’d go back and forth as best we could until we got through the whole alphabet.
So, when I wrote my speech, I started the first line with the letter "A," and wrote a 26 line speech all the way to "Z" – explaining towards the end how the speech was written. When I got to that point, you could really see how affected she was by it. Granted, there were some run-on sentences and/or sentence fragments just to make it work – but it made it sound more like regular talking than something super prepared and polished.
The things I talked about in the speech were how we met, adventures we had together, remembering when we talked about our wedding days when we were girls and didn’t even have boyfriends, I made sure to say some nice things about her husband (even though I didn’t really know him and had only met him one other time).
I had a lot of people come up to me and told me it was the best maid of honor speech they had ever heard, that they were really touched by it, that it made them cry, that it was beautiful, etc. Really nice things, that shocked me, because I had no clue what I was doing and took a chance on something a little goofy.
I think the challenge of doing the alphabet thing actually helped me focus and have a goal when writing it.
I did have to say "Xylophones are cool!" – lol , but right after that, I explained the game – starting with, "You see, this speech was written…" and explained it from there.
Maybe find something in your history with your friend to spark a creative way to write your speech.
Does the maid of honor usually give a toast at the wedding??? Would it look bad if she didnt??

Has lots of good examples.
This coming weekend I’ll be my sisters Maid of Honor. I’m not very sentimental and my creative writing skills are almost non-existent. I’m looking for ideas for my MOH toast. I wanted to base it around the joining of two families…as my sister has 3 children and her fiance has one already.
Suggestions??
I did a web search for "Maid of Honor toasts" and got quite a few choices. You might do that too and see if some work for you. Good luck
