Hi my friend is getting married and I am the maid of honor. I am so scared to give a speech and I cant think of anything to write.
Anyone have any pointers for me? Lol. Also does anyone have any suggestions on how not to be so nervous? Thank you.
Just get up, say congratulations, thank them for having you as their maid of honor and read something beautiful.
Make sure you find a poem or something similar that fits the couple as closely as possible.
You’ll be fine, remember EVERYONE hates getting up and talking and they’re mostly just sitting there thinking how glad they are that it’s you instead of them. It’ll all be over in a few seconds.
omg my sister is getting married in a week and i have to give a speech too, i could use some help as well

There is no real way to really unnerve yourself is you have issues with public speaking except to practice practice practice. I would recommend getting together with mutual friends who know the bride as well to practice around to help with your nervousness.
In regards to writing the speech, unfortunately there isn’t anything here I can help you with as the speech is meant to be personalize for the wedding couple, and in this case targetted for the bride mainly. You will want to highlight some of the things you know best about your friend, why you believe they belong together, and how happy you are for them. Try to practice it out and while there really is no time limit, I would shoot for a 3 to 5 minute speech.

1. introduce yourself. how do you know the bride? how did you meet? how long have you been friends for?
2. any interesting fun stories to share. Do you know how she met the groom? Did she share anything with you as she was falling in love?
3. tell the bride and groom that you are happy for them, wish them all the love, happiness, etc.
Its normal to be nervous. Everyone gets nervous when giving speeches. You just have to do it from the heart, and don’t worry about what anyone thinks. Good luck, you will do well.
